On Wednesday, Dr. Vince Walsh-Rock, Executive Director of the Illinois School Counselor Association (ISCA) surprised Prescott School Counselor Marisa Mathews on Wednesday with the 2024 Illlinois School Counselor of the Year Award. The Prescott Rock Band serenaded her and 3rd-5th graders cheered her along with Dr. Heidi Truax, Executive Director of School Counseling and Postsecondary Advising, Chicago Public Schools (CPS), Gretchen Rhodes, Director of School Counseling, CPS, Principal Erin Roche, Prescott Elementary School, Chicago Public Schools.

ISCA gives the School Counselor of the Year Award annually to one outstanding school counselor in the state.
