Purpose: Every year high school seniors are tasked with answering traditional questions in order to find the “right fit” for college. However, student athletes have an added task in finding the “right fit” – one that includes their athletic profile. School counselors need to be equipped with guiding principles that will empower student-athletes and their families’ with autonomy to make the most informed decision possible regarding the future.
Objectives:
Counselors will gain an in-depth understanding of the decision making process a student-athlete undergoes when selecting a college/university.
Counselors will become knowledgeable of the influential factors a student-athlete considers when selecting a college/university.
Counselors will provide an unparalleled authenticity in serving the developmental needs of college bound student-athletes.
